Hello, my name is Mitchell Cannon and I use a Nikon.Let me start off by saying “DSLRs can film anything, if you know how to use them the effective ways, not the right way.” The reason why I say not the right way because the right way might not work with you. Also, I don’t believe there is a right way. Today’s subject is going to be on hunting videos and filming them with a DSLR in general.
I have dipped my foot in the water when it comes to hunting videography. One thing I’m going to say first, don’t get turned off if your video doesn’t look like something you might see on TV. The hunts you see on TV are filmed by pros, meaning they have put their time, practice, and money to achieve that quality. You can only do your best and that all matters, really.
Start off focusing on capturing the hunt, and most importantly the experience. Trust me its a whole easier to edit a hunt where you know the story and you can do a lot better job. If you enjoy your first hunt, you will forever enjoy everyone after that. I tell people that I enjoy being behind the camera more than actually hunting, they look at me as if I have a screw loose. Its my passion that is what I say to those naysayers.
Waterfowl hunting is the hardest hunt you will ever hunt. For more information check this link: http://www.greenhead.net/26887/the-other-kind-of-shooting-filming-ducks-takes-skill-practice
Thank you for reading,
Mitch Cannon.
P.S. I will cover this more.
